EYOF Tbilisi 2015 Solemn Closing Ceremony

The Closing Ceremony was held in the Olympic Village on August 1st. The ceremony included all the elements as laid down by the protocol of Europe’s Olympic Committee. These were: the parade with the flags of the 50 participating European countries; an address by Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia; and Europe’s Olympic Committee Vice-president, Janez Kocijancic’s statement on official closing of EYOF Tbilisi 2015 and his appeal for European youth to assemble in the city of Gyor in Hungary to celebrate the 14th European Youth Olympic Festival two years from now. Afterwards, the Mayor of Tbilisi, Davit Narmania, handed the European Olympic Committee’s flag over to Mr. David Pekete, the representative of the city of Gyor.

The audience had an opportunity to watch the Olympic flame being put out on the screen which had been erected on July 26th in nearby the Kus Tba (the Turtle Lake)

The flame was put out so that it could be lit up again in Hungary. Tbilisi says farewell to Europe’s 13th Summer Youth Olympic Festival. The six-day event was a success, and EYOF Tbilisi’s solemn closing ceremony was over.

After the protocol part of the closing ceremony was over, a fire-show with acrobats and dancers took to the stage.
