On 10 of June, in the evening at 19:30, the Olympic Flame relay was crowned with festivities at the central square of Telavi. At the square, on the Olympic decorated stage, the Flame was brought by Mayor of Telavi, Platon Kalmakhelidze. However, beforehand, in the long torch relay, the flame was rallied by famous athletes and public figures of the Kakheti region.

The torch bearers of Telavi:
Ekaterine Maisuradze - Basketball player
Guram Gigodashvili - European and World Champion in Arm-Wrestling
Levan Liluashvili - Handball player, a candidate for the Georgian National Team
Giorgi Khachapuridze - the Chair of Telavi Culture, Education and Youth Committee Council
Giorgi Alkhanaidze - Athlete - Lomg Jump and Triple Jump
Ivane Iantselidze - Actor, honorary citizen of Telavi, the winner of Kote Marjanishvili award
Zurab Arsebishvili - Deputy of Governor of Kakheti
Platon Kalmakhelidze - Mayor of Telavi

The Chair of the Organizing Committe of European Youth Olympic Festival awarded each torch bearer with certificates and congratulated the gathered citizens of Telavi at the square on such a historic event.

"Olympic Flame is already in Telavi and next it will continue to the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region and the promise which was made to the citizens will be held. The Olympic Flame will enter in every Georgian Family and will be a part of every Georgian citizens. I am happy that Kakheti received the Flame with huge festivities and enthusiasm", stated Aleksi Akhvlediani.

"Its an unbelievable day today, the Olympic Flame entered Telavi, which we all welcomed together, look at the citizens how happy they are, they are greeting the Flame with applause, the Sport passion is upon everyone in the Kakheti region", stated the Governor of Kakheti, Irakli Shiolashvili



The Olympic Flame will stay in Telavi for two days, next, the relay will continue in Mtskheta.
